Emotional Intelligence can be a magical thing. When we exercise and grow our emotional intelligence, we become more aware of, in more control, and better able to express emotions in a healthy manner. In other words, it is the capacity to handle relationships appropriately and empathetically.

In relationships, emotional intelligence translates into the ability to be in touch with your own emotions as well as those of your partner(s).

A person’s capacity for empathy and ability to be present and talk about emotions in a healthy and loving way are both components of emotional intelligence (and a huge turn-on!).

Here are just some of the ways that emotional intelligence can be demonstrated in a relationship (and this can be mono, poly, FWB, close friendships, etc.). Becoming more aware and intentional with these experiences can help ignite intimacy and create meaningful experiences.

Let’s recap… yes I could let any one of these $Let’s recap… yes I could let any one of these things go but I’d like to put into context just how much a creator has to deal with on any single day and why I continue to fight for kindness and positivity. . This is just a fraction of the last couple days and why making content has become difficult. Within 12 hours of setting up my art shop on square space to house my PAINTINGS, I am banned from stripe because they don’t want to be associated with my art or the fact that I’m a board-certified s*xologist and educator. . I also was just told by instagram that because I posted my paintings on my @that.lit.witch account, that account will no longer be shown to non-followers because they see my PAINTINGS as potential offensive. . I’ve had scammers and fake accounts popping up left and right causing my followers strife with messages and DMs. . I’ve spent hours submitting lengthy forms to TT to get the accounts removed on copywrite violations because they keep coming back and saying no violations are found when I report them for impersonation. . I’ve hired a legal team to go after other accounts and scrub the internet on my behalf and be told they can’t do anything about certain types of accounts that are doing damage out there and I’ll have to work with the platforms myself. . I’m accused of being attention seeker for posting a small video showing my hair because I was genuinely in love with how healthy it felt after my treatment and wanted to support my good friend and her salon (I’m sorry Nikki for that jerk and he’s been blocked.) . Finally.. that little rich girl problems comment… SERIOUSLY!? I came from a home where my mom worked her tail off to MAKE my clothes because we couldn’t afford new ones. Christmas wrapping was made of newspaper and my mom still made us feel like we we had everything we needed. I’ve worked multiple jobs since I was 16, I put myself through school while raising my kids, and I still work 15 hours a day 7 days a week. Sure. Rich girl problems 🙄 . This doesn’t include the countless comments I delete that are harassing, rude, or disrespectful to others, or saying I deserve this because I am in the public eye. NO HUMAN DESERVES THIS.$

This comment really stung because those who have followed me for years know I’ve always been honest about my workouts, having implants, and the self love among nutrition, skin care, and self improvement that it’s taken over a lifetime to get to this point. I had implants a year ago and and that’s been the only surgery I’ve had. I even documented the journey on my YouTube and podcast. I have had no other surgeries because I have a blood clotting disorder and simply am not able to do so. I’ve worked hard with a trainer and cleaned up my diet. I have documented my entire journey on my @kipani_fitness account and on my Facebook. Please do not assume just by looking at one image that there is no way someone can have dramatic change in their life with exercise, nutrition, and perseverance. And since we are being transparent here, I’ll go further. Yes, I’ve had a treatment on my face called Sculptra that boosts collagen production in my face and neck this past month for the first time. I also opted for a small amount of lip injections and I go to a tanning salon once a week. I HAVE NOT had any other surgeries, treatments, or work done and prioritize physical health and feeding my body right. Please please please don’t assume when you see someone’s journey because comments like the one in this post are hurtful when one is being so vulnerable.

These are just a small handful of the comments I’ve received TODAY. I keep my modeling, fun, personal account separate from this one, but since I recently had a video go viral on this account, I’ve been flooded daily with comments like this. I hate feeling like I have to segment myself out because so many people want to believe a professional at the post-doctorate level can’t possibly look the way I do, or that because I look the way I do I must have a rich spouse. Let me set some things straight.

I have lived on my own since I was 16. I worked hard, graduated valedictorian 2 years early and continued to knock out my degrees to fulfill a dream of becoming a creative writing professor. I suffer with blood clotting condition and ADHD, but refused to believe those disorders would define my life. I got married young and had 3 kids early because it was thought it would be unsafe to have kids later in life. I went through cervical cancer twice, battled my own demons along the way, watched my home and pets burn in a fire, my brother die from AIDS, and still I believe there is good and beauty and pleasure in the world worth fighting tooth and nail for.

I am sorry to unload like this but I’ve had it up to *here* with this shameful idea that a woman should hide her authenticity. If we cover up, we are prudes, if we show too much we are s**ts, if we have kids we can’t feel s*xy, if we don’t have kids there’s something wrong with us, if we have a career we can’t have fun, and if we have fun we are immature, if we wear makeup and love fashion we are shallow and must have a man supporting us, and if we don’t wear makeup and are in comfy clothes we have “let ourselves go”. We have to be virginal and a n*mph at the same time, we can’t be too smart or too pretty, too muscular or too skinny, too big or too tiny.

I’m done hiding who I am and what brings me joy and don’t ever want ANYONE to feel the way these humans have made me feel lately.
.
Regardless of your profession… if you are a therapist, doctor, waitress, musician, school teacher…. Be yourself and LOVE yourself unapologetically! Wear what brings you power and joy. Be courageous my darlings.

Polyamory isn’t for everyone. But for those that identify in this way, or any other variation such as mono-poly, open, sw*ngers, to many others I can’t even mention here… you are valid and you are seen. What many others don’t understand is the high level of communication, consent, respect, self-love, trust, and ethics that are mapped out and continuously addressed in these types of relationships can often create stronger relationships. It’s not a “free pass for cheating” and if you go in with that idea, that’s a massive red flag. It’s the idea that love is expansive, experiences are unique, and friendships, just like any other relationship, can be designed to fit everyone’s needs. Again, I will always emphasize it isn’t for everyone. But for those that identify with this… you are seen.
